Athens Riviera

The Athens Riviera, or Apollo coast, stretches from Athens south to Cape Sounion for 65km and which is fringed by a string of fine beaches and upmarket resorts running south to Cape Sounion. Much of the summer nightlife takes place here, and it can be a refreshing getaway from Athens if you don't have time to hit the islands. Continuing south from busy Glyfada, which functions as an upscale suburb to Athens, the coast road (Poseidonos Avenue, often just called paraliaki) leads to Voula, Kavouri, and then bustling and popular Vouliagmeni and ritzy Astir Beach, on a small peninsula. Continuing on you come to Vouliagmeni's magical mineral lake Vouliagmani and its cluster of resorts. As the road curves around a small point, the nudist and gay beach rocky coves of Limanakia give way to laid-back Varkiza, Agia Marina and beyond. The further you go beyond Vouliagemeni, the more un-spoilt the coastline.

An other piece of heaven in Greece; For those, who love activities, like rafting or horseback riding.

Meteora is a formation of immense monolithic pillars and hills-like huge rounded boulders which dominate the local area. It is also associated with one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Greece, second in importance only to Mount Athos. The six monasteries are built on natural conglomerate pillars, at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains, in central Greece. Metéora is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List

Sparta - Remember Leonidas or the "300"

Surrounded by mounts Taýgetos and Párnon, Sparta was the kingdom of Menelaus and his beautiful queen, the most beautiful of all mortal women of her age, Helen. But Aphrodite had promised Paris of Troy the most beautiful woman on earth in return of a favor, so the Trojan prince came to Sparta to claim his trophy. He abducted Helen and travelled back to his homeland. Menelaus wanted his wife back and talked all the other kings of Greece into fighting against the Trojans.

Olympia - Home to OLYMPIC GAMES

Olympia is an ancient site on Greece's Peloponnese peninsula that hosted the original Olympic Games, founded in the 8th century B.C. Its extensive ruins include athletic training areas, a stadium and temples dedicated to the gods Hera and Zeus. The Archaeological Museum of Olympia exhibits finds from the site, including a statue of Hermes attributed to the sculptor Praxiteles.
